A Trendsetter (Female, 22-25, Student) asked:
A complicated one here: My BF's ex wife skipped the state with their kids against court orders. BF and I have been fighting in court for a long time but it's SO SLOW. Anyway, my BF's lawyer has found out that the kids haven't been in school since Oct of last year, all three are school aged, 10, 8 and 5. The lawyer found the school they were attending and got the info to BF, since the ex-wife hasn't bothered to tell us an address or phone number. We know where she is only because of the police investigation (no arrest yet, coming soon)
Anyway my question was can she legally take the kids out of school and keep them out for nearly a year? We don't believe she is homeschooling them because the woman doesn't even have a high school education and would never be able to get certified. She's in GA and although BF's lawyer is good we're working with MI law and not GA so does anyone know if she can do this and if she can't what we can do?
