No one genre in particular, but I always go back to Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Van Morrison, Bob Marley and other old-school artists when I need a mood-changer.

Classical....Celine Dion (A New Day), Josh Groban (You Raise Me Up), Andrea Bocelli (The Prayer), Catherine McPhee (The Prayer with Andrea Bocelli), etc. I love a song that has depth and meaning.....something that'll jump out and grab you when you hear it! I am really a music freak! :)

no, not for me... i have fairly eclectic tastes and even within the various genre i respond only to certain specific stuff. i just got three CD's from CDBaby.com (amazing library!), one techno, one 16th century spanish/moorish instrumental musings, and one egyptian vocalist. i had only heard thirty seconds of the techno to know it rocked. it does, from beginning to end. the others were bought "ear un-heard" and it turns out that one is a B- and the other a C-.

Music that "moves" me?? Symphonic, philharmonic or orchestral bands, I love live concerts! My favourite was the Yamaha Symphonic Band straight from Japan when I saw them play live at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. That was the most amazing concert ever, talk about moving music! The Japanese band was so excited to come to Canada that for one number, they all pulled out hockey jerseys and played the Hockey Night in Canada theme lol!

It doesn't matter what the genre is, as long as the music is well played.

Usually sentimental song, but since I'm a 'lyrical' person, if the lyrics is great matched with great melody then it's good with me, I get turn-off by songs with great melodies but offensive lyrics. Lately, I'm moved by the song CHASING PAVEMENTS by ADELE.

I grew up on Folk Music of the 1960's, along with the Beatles, Herman's Hermits and others. I really like the sound of Il Divo and the 3 Tenor's, and miss the voice of Pavorati. I like music that tells a story and am a sucker for a Ballad. I have a friend who's been singing for years, never got discovered, but sounds better than Kenny Rogers on his best day. He sings ballads and they always make me feel good inside, knowing that there are writers and musicians in this Country out there doing their thing, in their little part of the planet, adding to the music of the Earth.
