A disorder frequently seen in models, atheletes, and those in the entertainment industry:

Narcissisitic personality disorder: One of the personality disorders characterized by excessive egocentrism, grandiosity, self-centeredness, preoccupations with feelings of envy, fragile self-esteem (although it often appears that they have over bloated self-esteem), and behavior that is often seeking approval or admiration. The person has little empathy, volatile interpersonal relationships, and periodic depression.

Volatility in relationships often arises as someone in their inner circle dissents from agreeing with them or flattering them in the way they presume they deserve. This results in displays of both condemnation and claims of victimization that results with the Narcissistic person shutting the other out in some way.

Feel free to discuss your experiences and exposures to those with this personality disorder.

lol I refer to that as the Spoiled Brat Dumbass Hasn't A Clue Disorder. :p
You see it in celebrities all the time like Paris Hilton, who, even though she's an idiot that doesn't know what a laundromat is, she 'thinks' every man on earth wants her. LOL!!

This disorder is also frequently seen in men Purrzn has dated.

The problem is that they submerge these tendencies in the beginning of relationships and only allow them to emerge when Purrzn is hooked.

I think that anyone that has a mirror has this Narcissisitic personality. I do. And don't even try to tell me I am wrong, because I am always right, if you don't believe me, just ask me. Sheesh.

I know a woman like that. I say, to hell with "self-esteem"! When she acts like a bitch, I put my foot down and say "NO!"

I forgot to add--it makes sense that many celebrities would have this disorder. My guess is they were Narcissists before becoming famous. I don't see people such as Paris Hilton as necessarily Ns. But I DO have a strong suspicion Bill Clinton is. (I can spot them a mile away now) and during the Monica Lewinski mess I was DYING to find a way to talk to her!

There are a few women on this site with this disorder. It's pretty sad really... you've gotta feel sorry for them.

This was very informative. Sadly, I see what appears to be a lot of this. An older sister who has always been so hung up on her looks and feelings of superior intelligence,

And wanting her ass kissed. i.e. she called in summer wanting $. i told her I had to balance my check book as I had just bought $400 in paint.I'd call her back in 10 mins.

she said "NO, I'll go hungry," then she proceeded to call other rels to tell them "I wanted her to BEG for the money and I was a cold hearted snob" unfortunately,

I had mailed the ck before I found that out.I truly believe she is narcisstic [sp?] thanks for all the info.

I dated one. When someone at the age of forty one tells you that empathy is something that,"they need to work on"...uh, run for the hills!!
