Invited a co-worker to a birthday partyA few of my co-workers are having a birthday party for one of the secretaries at work. I asked another secretary if she wanted to come. When I did she did not respond in any way, she sat there at her desk looking at me. I started feeling uncomfortable and I told her if she wanted to come, let me know. I then walked away.

My guess is that she felt angry/hurt that no one planned a birthday party for her and so she doesn't WANT to attend, but instead of saying what she truly thought/felt, she said nothing.

I would guess she didn't have a ready excuse. I assume she's someone you talk to regularly enough that it'd not be weird for you to invite her? I suppose that's a weird way to handle it but you handled your end properly and just walked away...

I would have just said let me know if you are coming and moved on. You invited her and its up to her to either accept or reject. Rosey
