Do you believe in God?

If not who or what do you believe in?

Update: November 07, 2009.
Thank you everyone that replied there was some great answers I was not expecting! I do believe in god and have faith he is real! I've always been told faith is believing in something/someone without having the ability to see, touch or feel them! I am not religious I do have a great personal relationship with god and prefer it that way! :) thanks again everyone

First yes. Reason is not only personal reasons, but mathematical, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, broken down as, The Father, (God the Judge), the Son, (Your comforter and your attorney that pleads your case to the Judge), God, (the Judge, who only wants you to be innocent of any wrong doing), therefore he sent his only Son, (himself in the living word) to asorb the sins of all and to be executed and spilled his blood to cleanse us all in the only sacrifice that was worthy of being God. Death, and we are all appointed to one death and then the Judgement, the second life is not life as we know it today, it is beyong my comprehension, and it will be wonderful, the other side of judgement I cannot speak of because being thrown into the lake of fire, is the absence of God and the absence of God is absence of light, hopelessness, and I want no part of that judgement.

I do believe in God although I'm not religious. We have an understanding; I believe in Him and He believes in me.

I also believe in Evolution. It happened and it's still an on-going process. I just happen to believe that God was, and is, overseeing the whole process.

I believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen. I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in being with the Father. Through Him all things were made. For us men and our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit, He was born of the Virgin Mary , and became man. For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the scriptures: He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son, He is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.

Amen.

O yeah that's what I call it. It's (God) like this energy...like pure nature and creation. There's no evil in His/Her intentions only a sense of balance. Now what all it written (Bible) I don't give too much thought...we have brains of our own and we all know what is cruel and what is loving and where the middle ground is between the two.

I'm very torn on the whole *God* thing. I really don't believe in him but every so often doubt always creeps its way into my mind. I'm not entirely atheist. I think there might be something out there, but I'm not sure if it is an all-powerful entity. As it stands now I have nothing to work off of but bible stories and sermons asking people to accept on blind "faith" the existence of this entity. I just can't do that.

Throughout history, people have believed in thousands of gods. Whereas most people are atheists with respect to more than 99% of them, I find none of them particularly more believable than the next. If I were to lower my standard of believability to admit one, I would have to believe in all of them, which would be quite difficult. I would also have to believe in fairy tales and other supernatural claims.

It's ironic to me that so many people claim to find comfort in religion because it gives them answers to life's most difficult questions. To me it seems to raise far more questions than it answers. Reality is a lot easier to comprehend.

Certainly I do. However, I do find those who believe in God, but don't subscribe to religion to be hypocrites---nothing personal. It's just that even those who don't believe in organized religion have boundaries as to what they believe God is/isn't, can/can't do (even those who believe in an omnipotent God), and will/won't do. The moment that any definition is put upon the nature or character of God is the moment that religion begins.

I believe in God, and I practice my religion, Roman Catholicism, however, I am probably a lousy Catholic in the eyes of the pope.

As far as agnostics and atheists, most of them I meet are very high and might about their unbelief and think themselves intellectually superior to believers, but my EXPERIENCE with them is that most are woefully ignorant about what religious people really believe, and almost to a man, know next to nothing about theology (and I include the likes of Dawkins, Harris, and Hitchens in this category). They assume that the most ridiculous examples of belief that they find represent the thinking of the average man or woman in the pew. Even someone I otherwise very much like, Like Bill Maher, is not only deeply prejudiced, but very ill-informed when it comes to religion.

If they did their homework as they should, they might not only reconsider, but they would at least know that I do not believe in the God they don't believe in, either.

NO. I also do not believe in the tooth fairy, Leprechauns, zeuss, thor, or invisible pink unicorns. Just because a book has been written about something doesn't make it true. There is zero evidence that god, or any of the above mentioned things exist. I believe in kindness, loyalty and empathy, all of which exist independent of a belief in a magical sky daddy.
