If you are asking about the asteroid Toutatis which is 3.5 miles long and passes it's closes on Dec. 12, 2012, the Earth will not end. Toutatis passes about 4.3 million miles from earth. To get a perspective, the Moon is 238,900 miles from Earth. So Toutatis will pass 18 times the distance of the Moon and Earth. That's not very close.

No, the date and asteroid to worry about is Apophis which passes on Friday the 13 of April, 2026. Apophis is only 330 yards long but still big enough for Earth to have a bad day. Apophis passes 23,000 miles from Earth. That's closer than the Moon and some Earth satellites. If Apophis hits a small keyhole area in space, it will pass the Earth 5 more times and hit Earth on 2036. But there is only a 0.002% of that.

any thing is possible

I chose not to worry about it.

I recall many times people in a panic

first it was the bomb shelters , I was young and thought

about the reality, you go in a shelter save your ass and come

out to an inhabitable land where there is not food and all your

neighbors are dead.WTF

Sense then I just live life what will come will come

and I herd that date of the Mayan calendar has actually passed

it will sell a lot of tee shirt thought

I SURVIVED 12-12-12

If the world is still standing the sun will rise even if it's raining and we dont see it. remember the much ado about 6-6-6. 3 yrs ago.?

We have heard that the Mayan calendar ends on Winter Solstice of 2012. It may be the end of the Mayan calendar, but it is not the end of the world, just a turning point, like the solstice itself (the sunlight begins to return and the days begin to get longer every winter solstice). Only this date (12-21-12) is a bit more significant, i.e. the end of an era and the start of a new era. But just like any new years day, it will be a normal day. Only as special as you choose to make it.

The sun will rise, people will go Christmas shopping, taking care of necessary things, eating, drinking, etc. Another day on the calendar. The sun will set, people will go to bed and sleep. Babies will be born on that day and some people will leave this earth. Remember 2000?

- Response by A Married Girl, Female, Who Cares?, Who Cares?

Yes, the Sun will probably rise and set that day as usual. Do I believe in the Mayan calendar where it says the world will end that day? If things keep going like they are, life as we know it will end...but the world? I can't say...it will probably proceed as usual. Just out of curiosity, how are you "retired" at your age????

Nope.... I have lived thru a number of supposedly significant dates in my life ...all with the hype and drama that accompanied them....Nothing happened Jan.1,2000 etc...

Even the bible says the end comes like a thief in the night....

Having a docu-drama on the History Channel...does not represent "LIke A Thief In the Night"!
