I have sinus issues and bought a neti pot. Each time I use it, it stings like heck.I use 8 oz warm water and 1/4 tsp sea salt. HELP - Asked by butternutbisque, A Thinker, Female, 46-55, Who Cares? |

I have the stinging when I don't have the salt crystals totally dissolved. My little plastic neti pot has grooves around the outside edge that can hold salt crystals, so I give it an extra couple of minutes of stir around the edge. Voila, no more sting.

I use a Neti everyday.......use non iodized salt and cut back on the amount. Make sure that you are using warm water and that the salt is stirred well into the water before you use it. The salt, even in a few moments, can start to settle at the bottom of the pot, so don't drain all of the water into your nostrils.
