When you are just starting to date someone, who you did not meet online but who you know has done on

When you are just starting to date someone, who you did not meet online but who you know has done online dating, is it wrong to check his online profile to see if he's "active"? (I just did this, saw that he is "online now", and am wondering whether to be hurt and/or to mention it.)
