Who's had swine flu and what are the symptoms? can you tell the difference between it and the

regular flu at all?
One of my coworkers has had it for 2 weeks, 3 times in the last two weeks he came into the office coughing all over me. He thought it was funny.
Now he's off with pneumonia, not so funny anymore is it?
I have not been able to get the shot yet, even thought i have Rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia, as well as several other condtions.
I'm not quite "right" today. My body aches but it's a differnt ache than arthritis or fibro and my pain killers are not touching it. I have a stiff neck and shoulders too.
My eye lids feel heavy like i haven't slept in days, i have slight nausea and feel like i need to sleep badly. I just have an all over feeling of being unwell.
Could i be getting it?

Break a leg, an arm, then cut it off

Have you or anyone you know ever broken a limb, then after wearing the cast the recommended amount of time, decided to cut the cast off themselves? What kind of repercussions does this have?

Women in their 40s are just scared and apprehensive of the new breast exam guidelines

All your life the recommendations have been yearly mammograms for women in their 40s and every two years for women over 50 years. Now something comes along and challenges your lifelong beliefs.

Now that the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force have changed those guidelines, it is understandable that women are scared and rejecting new ideas. It is like living your entire life believing the earth is flat and then one day, data suggests the earth is round... anyone would reject that information.

The thing with science and medical technologies (as well as any technology) is that it is always evolving and changing. It takes a long time for people accept changes when it challenges what they've been taught their entire lives.

To be completely honest, I don't know if these recommendations are right or wrong but all the data suggests the benefits of the new recommendations outweigh the cons. Spare me the "you can't put a price on human life" because we do that every single day even though we don't like to admit it.

Embrace change and overcome your fear, slowly adapt to new ideas that question your thinking. Why are you afraid of change?

Update: November 19, 2009.
I am aware enough to see that these recommendations do take into account economics and ways to be more cost efficient. The task force is only calling for less routine testing. If a woman in her 40s got a mammogram every month, wouldn't you consider that frequency unnecessary and economically wasteful? But you know what, getting tested monthly would detect breast cancer a lot sooner than annual checkups. Weekly mammograms would catch breast cancer sooner still, but now that's just being foolish. You get the point though. If medical experts in the past had recommended monthly mammograms in the past and then changed it to yearly checkups, society would be outraged like it is right now.

WOMEN, PLEASE BE AWARE...............

Do not follow or go by the NEW REVERSALS on the infamous new guidelines on mammographies. ITS all a question of money, it all a questions of BUDGET.

The American Cancer Society and the American College of Radiology are appalled at the new guidelines. Yes, appalled. They have been fighting for years to help and prevent Breast Cancer and they have done miracles with their preventive system.
Now this group together with the Insurance companies are telling you in the face, that they don't give a shit about your breast cancer, because
they care more about the cost of prevention.
How dare them?
and this is happening in one of the most technologically advance countries.
We might as well move to an undeveloped country, what's the difference?

Why haven't I become addicted? I started smoking about 5 years ago and absoultely love it.

However I have yet to become addicted. I will go from smoking a pack a day for a month straight to not smoking for over 2 weeks. What is wrong with me? Everyone else gets urges where the just have to smoke whereas I treat it as a hobby that is done for fun but is not required. Why is it like this?
