Weight Talk.........

What's the biggest you've ever been? Me-157 pounds.

Update: November 18, 2009.
I am 5'9, so 157 pounds isn't BIG for me, that's just the highest number I've ever achieved in weight. Ever since 20 yrs old, I've always been between 135-140 pounds. Now that I am married, I cook every morning & night LOL. I guess me being 157 pounds now is due to married life. But I like that I have a little bit more meat on me now. It looks cute.

Should obese and smokers pay more for health insurance?

"Overall, the United States spends about $1.8 trillion a year in medical costs associated with chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer, and all three are linked to SMOKING and OBESITY, the nation's two largest risk factors, according to the America's Health Rankings report."

Do you think that people who smoke or who are obese should pay more for health insurance than non-smokers and non-obese people? Why or why not?

Can some explain to me what PMS and PMDD is?

I don't think I have ever experienced any of these. I'm never moody or miserable or I don't even know what the symptoms are of either one. All I ever have is mild cramps for the first day or two of my period. Then again I only get it ever three months and I've been on birth control for 15 years. Does birth control take care of PMS or PMDD?

Or maybe it's my anti-depressant! Lol

New suggested guidelines for mammograms, "coincidence" or something potentially much worse?

So, yesterday new suggested "guidelines" for breast cancer screening in the U.S. are made public.

Among them, mammograms are not "necessary" as early as previously thought. Rather than having them done annually starting at 40, they are now considered not necessary until age 50.

Oh...kay...

AND self-exams are not helpful and should not even be taught or encouraged.

uhh... huhh...

Interesting.

Study after study shows that in the U.S., we detect more cancers earlier than in other countries (including breast cancer), AND because of this, our patients survive longer on average than patients in other countries (google it before you argue with me).

So now, the U.S. is on the brink of passing legislation to "reform" health care, leading ultimately to "universal health care," with government ultimately paying for it all.

Doesn't it seem just a bit "convenient" that we are now being told that we don't "need" to do things that - when we paid for them ourselves - often led to longer life, even if it cost us more?

After all, which of you would not choose to pay more to have a longer life?

Anyone else find this a little quirky or suspicious even?

Makes me wonder how many more of these "suggested guidelines" we are going to be hearing in the near future. And how many of them will be incorporated into "guidelines" for care and deciding who gets what treatment.

Tell me again why "health care reform" will be such a good thing... I forget.

Organic Honey and Infants.

I bought some organic honey. Meaning unfiltered I guess since I can't see honey being very processed.

It has a warning not to give it to infants under one year old. Why is that? is it because of a possible allergy to bee pollen?

How could honey hurt a baby?
