Hypo situation here, what can you think up? Adult moves in to the parents home to take care of aging father. Other brothers and sisters stop by now and then and take some responsibility but mainly it's #1 person doing all the running around to Drs., hospitals, drug stores, get groceries, on and on. It is gradually increasing in the time spent as the father ages and his abilities decrease. Now, #1 person needs to get back in the work force, as all this time, he has been off drawing unemployemnt which is soon to expire. This will create a major upheavel in the home due to the fathers' need for constant assistance and a watchful eye. It has been determined by all that a person coming into the home to help as well as the father going to a day care or home are totally not options. The father is most comfortable and happy with #1 doing for him and keeping him safe and company.
......The family does have sufficent means to pay off the current caretaking persons bills and provide a stipend so that #1 could stay home with the father and it's a full time job, more than full time. Does this seem ethical, or mercenary? Any other ideas? - Asked by nysbikergirl, An Alternative Girl, Female, 46-55, Who Cares? |
