I am a postwar baby boomer and almost all of our fathers had done something during World War II. My own father flew combat as a heavy bomber pilot. (a B-17) Thus the recent PBS series "The War" is especially poignant to me. The song "American Anthem" sung by Noral Jones is touchingly appropriate

Something else that is bugging me. We have a new president. People are already forgetting the post 9/11 crisis and the liberal left now is conveniently forgetting that for whatever reason, our country has been safe thanks to our military. This brings to mind a saying from two famous Brits who spoke fondly of their military.

Rudyard Kipling wrote of the British soldier nicknamed the Tommy (just as our soldiers are GIs)
